Just a few reasons why you might want to swap...

The reason for the creation of swapmywheels.com, a vehicle swapping website, was we felt there was a need for an on-line venue, where like for like (i.e. car for car), or cross vehicle swapping (e.g. car for bike or van for car, etc) could take place.

Why?

1. Our personal experience of buying and selling cars and motorcycles was the cash loss on both the buy and sell aspects of the transaction. This can be as much as 30% on the sale and certainly 10% on a purchase. Thats £4,000 in total on a £10,000 car or bike! This is nuts. We thought, not everyone can afford such a financial hit (we couldnt) and we certainly dont want to take it if it can be avoided. Although buying through a main dealer has advantages (vehicle warranties, consumer protection, etc) we didnt want to pay for the privilege.
2. Also we found changes to our mates circumstances often drove the need for a different type of transport. New baby, new job, loss of job, bored with the same wheels, etc
3. Another reason was Lifestyle-a significant section of our car and bike owning friends are influenced by trends and fashion. Changing your car or bike is just another part of that equation. Why stick with something you are bored with because you cant afford to take the financial hit. Dont buy and sell-SWAP

These are some of the reasons our friends said would make them use the site:

• Simply, you've had the bike or car for a while and you want a change.
• You wife is expecting a baby-a Honda Hornet isnt great for the pram. Swap your bike for a car. The reverse swap being; you have reached 40 and want to get back into biking again. Swap your Renault Megane for his/her Hornet. #
• You have had your car for 3 years and want a change. Someone out there wants your Vauxhall Astra and you want their VW Golf GTI.
